I actually have a German friend (German German, like she grew up there and everything) whose husband is Arab and they named their son Ryan. Sami (usual Arabic-to-English spelling, although I’ve seen some spell it Sammy) is another. Omar is one name many English speakers are familiar with and find easy to pronounce (at least somewhat correctly haha). Personally I’m most familiar with Arab names being an Arabic speaker myself and my husband being Egyptian. There are some in common of course, historical names like Mohamed and other prophet names like Noah and Adam like you mentioned, and the names of the companions of the Prophet because we grow up learning about them etc., but there are lots of beautiful names to be found within different places of origin too. You mention your husband’s side, I’m assuming you mean you want a name that they can pronounce too? Where is his family from originally? Arab Muslims have different cultural names from Desi Muslims and Nigerian Muslims and Turkish Muslims and Persian Muslims etc. ![]() “Muslim names” are any name with a good meaning and not conflicting with our beliefs (ie you’re not gonna name a Muslim kid Christian or Odin for example □ ) So I mean anything from James to Tobias or anything in between would work (as long as those names mean something good). ![]()
